I didn't mean to write EVA
I didn’t mean to write EVA.
She was part of a totally unrelated project. Then I fell in love with her and had to.
It began with the simple premise: what if possession wasn’t a thing and agency was?
And then: what would happen if I let this woman loose on the world?
I didn’t think I could do superheroes or fantasy very well, so I wrote a real-world romance. The kind of romance Eva would have. The kind of people she would surround herself with. The kind of man she would marry, having once thought she'd probably never marry at all.
I also needed to write her story, not her life.
Out of that came a beginning, a twist, and an ending. Well, at least the start of an ending. And then, rather wonderfully, the story began to write itself.
That prompted me to question what happily ever after means, and in so doing, what really matters in life and love.
I don't think I have any new revelations for the world. But somewhere along the way, I found a little peace of my own.
I hope Eva may help you find some of yours too.
Along with some smiles and maybe a blush or two.
